The ancient King Hiranyakashipu, the father of the saintly Prahlada, achieved fame for his dvesha-yoga or spiritual practice of hatred. According to Puranic legend, he hated Visnu with such fervor that he constantly thought of him-thereby gradually becoming transformed into the object of his negative emotion.

I am now saying Hiranyakashipu on the rosary beads and hope to make this my powerful new mantra.

Dvesha Yoga jives with my heavy metal, anti establishment lifestyle. Though I am mindful of the union brought by this mindful hatred.
